Christmas blessing

On December 22nd, 2010, Jon David was baptized. He has been talking to us about doing this for a long time. Don and I have hesitated quite a bit, mostly because of his young age. We prayed for wisdom, and sought advice. But Jon David continued to bring it up. We finally decided that we did not want to keep him from it any longer. Don and Jon David prayed about it, and talked about it together. Don asked him some questions, and read some scriptures with him.
In the midst of our life transitions, we asked Jon David if he would like to get baptized at Chattahoochee Valley church, since we would be stayed with Mom and Dad for a while in December. He was very excited.

He took the whole thing very seriously. I would catch him during the day, just sitting and thinking. He seemed to be pondering the event and preparing himself. I love that boy.

There was that one moment when I remembered: well, he is still seven years old, and his hyper personality came out for a brief second. *sigh* and chuckle. ;) But he quickly regained composure. Don didn't even notice. The moment lasted as briefly as it will take you to see the following pic. In fact, the only reason I got it on camera was because I was just trying to snap several shots, and when my finger hit the button, this is what he did. It cracked me up so much, because it is so Jon David. Oh God, take this little boy, and make of him what you will.

God bless you. Happy re-birthday, precious treasure!

  1. How precious. The picture right after Jon David was baptized brought tears to my eyes - I imagine that is an embrace similar to the one our Heavenly Father gives us each day.

Just last night I had a long conversation with Mackenzie about Baptism. Must be the age. :)

    Congratulations!!

  2. This is wonderful! It's such a huge step. Maura is already asking a LOT of questions about salvation and baptism, so we'll just keep praying her into the Kingdom!

  4. What a precious capturing of such a wonderful moment. I especially loved the picture of Don hugging JD. Certainly that moment will always be a highlight in both of their lives. Thanks for sharing it with us.

And by the way, he was NOT too young. :-)
